MORNING SOLITUDE | Linotip guest performance

Morning Solitude tells the story of a young girl who falls in love with dance.
One day, her body betrays her; her gestures twist into something unfamiliar, her movements slip beyond her control. Like a bird struck in mid-flight, she plummets.
She lies motionless, feeling the damp, cold earth beneath her. Her gaze drifts upward, back toward the sky, and she trembles.
Tears spill from her eyes, like drops of dew in the morning light.
Alone in the middle of a field of poppies, she clings to hope—that the hunter will not find her, that life will not abandon her body, that one day she will rise and take flight again.
Others watch her in silence, closing in as though upon prey.
But to their wonder, she rises. With the last of her strength, she throws herself into the void, her wings unfurl, the wind gathers her up, and she floats once more—until she vanishes into the clear sky of a summer morning.

The story is inspired by Alexandra’s life, who discovered she had MS.
Doctors were astonished that she was not already in a wheelchair; they even told her to buy one on discount, warning that within a year, she would surely need it. But she kept dancing. The illness held still. Today, Alexandra is a second-year choreography student and a member of the LINOTIP family. She trains every day, and dance has become her way of flying.
